From October 31, PBS America will broadcast unencrypted via satellite as part of the English TV package Freesat. This makes reception in the Netherlands possible. PBS America has been broadcasting via the Astra2 satellite at 28.2 degrees east for some time, but is currently part of the encrypted channel offering of provider Sky UK. However, the TV channel will switch to Freesat's unencrypted channel offering on October 31. As a result, PBS America can currently be viewed exclusively via satellite in the Netherlands. Because it concerns unencrypted distribution, no subscription to a provider is required to watch the channel.
