Belgian filmmaker Chantal Akerman died on Tuesday in Paris at the age of 65. Brussels-born Akerman is considered a extrahead of European experimental film of the 1970s and 1980s. She made, among other things, the drama Les rendez-vous d'Anna (The Encounters of Anna) from 1979 and the comedy Un divan à New York (A bank in New York) from 1996, the drama La captive from 2000, based on a book by Marcel Proust, or Demain on déménage (Tomorrow we move) from three years later.
