Producers Klaas de Jong and Bernard Tulp are the initiators of a new association for film producers. The direct reason is the difference of opinion regarding the policy of Film Producers Netherlands (FPN) regarding the fight against piracy. Together with the NVPI, the NVF and enforcement organization BREIN, the FPN rejected the claim made to the government through rights organization SEKAM in a press release (dated September 29, 2015). The FPN opts for silent consultation with the civil servants. The damage to the industry due to piracy such as Popcorn Time amounts to hundreds of millions of euros every year.
