The 35th edition of the Dutch Film Festival was festively opened in the Beatrix Theater on Wednesday evening with the premiere of the musical road film J. Kessels by director Erik de Bruyn in the presence of the stars of the Dutch film world. Director Willemien van Aalst kicked off the festival with her annual opening speech. A number of prizes were also awarded. Director Jona Honer was surprised with the Film Prize of the City of Utrecht 2015, the prize for the best debut film of the festival, for his short documentary The Alchemists. The Board of the Dutch Film Festival has also awarded two prizes. Sandra den Hamer received the Golden Calf for Film Culture from Minister of Education, Culture and Science Jet Bussemaker. Gooische Vrouwen 2 was honored with the NFF honorary prize for the craftsmanship of the most visited Dutch film production
