The Red Turtle is something new in several ways. This will be the first full-length animated film by Dutchman Michael Dudok de Wit, who won an Oscar for his short cartoon Father and Daughter. In addition, it is also Studio Ghibli's very first co-production with European partners Why Not Productions, ARTE France Cinéma and Wild Bunch. Distributor Lumière will release the cartoon in Belgian and Dutch cinemas during 2016.
