Director Matthijs Rümke, artistic director of Het Zuidelijk Toneel since 2005, recently died of cancer in his hometown of Zaltbommel at the age of 60. Rümke succeeded Johan Simons at the Brabant company ten years ago. As artistic director, he had new Dutch theater repertoire written and performed, gave young talent the opportunity and initiated various educational programs.
