The National Geographic Society is selling its media division, including its emblematic magazine and television channels, to the 21st Century Fox conglomerate. The Fox channel, founded by Australian billionaire Rupert Murdoch, will pay $725 million to acquire 73 percent of the new entity National Geographic Partners. The National Geographic Society, based in Washington, will retain the remaining 27 percent.
