A Russian film festival, famous for the controversial films it screens, has been canceled. The Moscow City Council abruptly stopped financing the thirteenth edition of Moscow Premiere. During this festival, films are presented about, for example, homosexuality and neo-Nazis. The government preferred a "positive, youth-oriented" festival instead of Moscow Premiere. This festival will be organized by Yevgeny Gerasimov, who is a member of Putin's United Russia party.
