British filmmaker Alan Parker (70), known for Fame, Evita and The Wall, is chairman of the jury at Film Fest Ghent this year. Parker made a number of critical films that show the dark side of the "American Dream" and music plays a decisive role in much of his work, Duynslaegher notes. Alan Parker is joined in the jury by the French-Iranian writer Marjane Satrapi, the Flemish documentary and filmmaker Caroline Strubbe, the Colombian director Franco Lotti (last year in Ghent prize for best film) and the Dutch critic Boyd van Hoeij.
