Martijn Bal, a 48-year-old resident of Ghent with extensive experience in the audiovisual sector, will become the new general director of Film Fest Gent. Martijn Bal will succeed Bart Vandesompele as general director of Film Fest Gent and will start on October 1. He studied at the Antwerp Conservatory and from 1989 he worked at production companies such as IDTv and Kladaradatch! as a producer. The 42nd edition of Film Fest Ghent runs from October 13 to 24.
