Film director Guillermo del Toro received the International Filmmaker of the Year award during the 24th edition of CineEurope. The awards ceremony took place today during the Universal Pictures lunch. Del Toro earned international acclaim for the 2006 film Pan's Labyrinth. The film received six Oscar nominations. Del Toro himself was also nominated for best screenplay. Two years ago, the Mexican-born filmmaker wrote and directed Pacific Rim. He is currently putting the finishing touches on Crimson Peak starring Mia Wasikowska. He made that film for Universal Pictures. This also applies to Pacific Rim 2, which he has on his list as the next film project.
