Eisenstein in Guanajuato, the new film by Amsterdam-British director Peter Greenaway, is released in Russia. Distributor Cinemien reported this today. The film was purchased by film company Volga. The release is notable because the Russian Film Fund refused to financially support the film because homosexuality plays a prominent role in the story. The 'promotion' of homosexuality is prohibited by law in Russia.
