Son of Saul, one of the most critically acclaimed films at this year's Cannes festival, is in the running for an Oscar nomination. Hungary is submitting the critically acclaimed Holocaust drama for the best foreign film category. The production by Hungarian director Laszlo Nemens is about the 'Sonderkommandos', the Jews who had to clean the gas chambers in Auschwitz before a new train with victims arrived. Hungary is the first country to announce its entry this year. The Netherlands will not choose its entry until September.
