Michiel Huisman left for America five years ago to give his acting career a chance. He was also completely done with the Netherlands.

Michiel felt that he did not get enough opportunities here and, according to the actor, he felt as if he was at the mercy of that one film or series per year. He wanted to have more options and therefore decided to leave. According to him, the enormous success that Michiel is now having also has another side. For example, his wife, actress Tara Elders, gave up her career to join him.
