In "Liefjes", a documentary by Anneke de Lind van Wijngaarden and Natalie Bruijns, the lives of three Dutch teenage girls during their summer holidays at a French campsite are examined. The film, premiering internationally on Hot Docs, offers an intimate look at the girls' experiences with love and life. The directors, who reflect on their own teenage years, filmed at the campsite for five weeks, building a deep bond with the girls. “Liefjes” (“Sweeties”) has been praised for its positive portrayal of adolescence, avoiding stereotypical negative portrayals. The documentary was produced by Witfilm, supported by the Dutch Film Fund and is distributed in the Netherlands by Amstelfilm.
